Ellensburg Rodeo Flag Carrier Expectations

The Ellensburg Rodeo flag carriers proudly carry sponsor flags during five grand entries and rodeo performances, as well as the downtown Ellensburg Rodeo parade. This is a highly visible and important role in one of the nation’s top rodeos. Serving as a flag carrier is an honor and a chance to represent the Ellensburg Rodeo and its sponsors with professionalism and pride.

Participation Requirements

Attend at least one tryout • Attend 6 of the 8 scheduled practices • Arrive early for and ready to participate in: Five grand entries and rodeo performances, The downtown Ellensburg Rodeo parade. Strong communication skills are essential.

Horse Requirements

Flag carriers must provide a reliable horse that: • Is comfortable carrying flags • Remains calm around loud music, announcers, and large crowds • Is steady around other horses • Can be confidently ridden one-handed at a walk, trot, and lope

Attire

The Ellensburg Rodeo will provide: • Long-sleeved, button-down shirts Flag carriers are responsible for providing: • Black jeans • Boots • Cowboy hat
